The Victorian Default Offer (VDO) is an electricity tariff set by the Essential Services Commission from 1 July 2019 and applies to VIC.
The VDO was introduced to the energy market to ensure customers have a more clear comparison between electricity plans within the market, providing Victorian consumers access to fair electricity deals and pricing.
The reference price will depend on your Distribution zone and provide you a yearly estimate amount when comparing plans and may not always be the lowest price available to customers.
We know that there may be a lot of information to take in, so if you don't find the answer to your question below, we'll be happy to chat with you.
Who does the VDO apply to ?
The Victorian Default Offer has replaced all "standing offers" in Victoria. It applies to eligible small businesses or residential customers.
The Victorian Default Offer is available to:
- Some small business and residential customers
- Time of use tariffs
- Demand and flexible tariff structures
Does the VDO guarantee that I will be on the cheapest deal?
Not necessarily. While the purpose of the VDO is to make energy more affordable, this does not mean its the cheapest offer available. It is still cheaper then most existing standing offers. OVO Energy will let you know at least once every 3 months whether you are on our best offer, allowing you to compare if there are other offers that may be better for you.
